In 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 we took on the logistical planning and delivery of the Tour of Britain in Northumberland – the UK’s biggest and most prestigious cycle race. This involved managing all elements of delivery, including traffic management of the race, community events, sporting participation, and schools coordination.
In 2019, we also coordinated stage three of the race from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, covering over 182 km and concluding with a uphill finish in the city centre. The race was last held in Newcastle in 2009.
In 2019 it was the first time that all areas of the North of Tyne Combined Authority worked together on the Tour of Britain race.
